On 25 June 2025, Ryanair handled its 10 millionth passenger on flights to/from Katowice Airport. Mr. Mateusz was the lucky passenger; he flew to Pyrzowice from Catania, Italy. Ryanair operates 23 to routes to 12 countries, including Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Malta, Norway, Spain, and various destinations in Italy and the UK carrying over 1.3 million passengers annually.

President of the Management Board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group SA, Artur Tomasik said “Ryanair is an important business partner of Katowice Airport, which is consistently developing its network of regular connections here. Currently, the airline bases three Boeing 737s at Katowice Airport, intended for servicing scheduled traffic. This year, the carrier has offered several new destinations from Pyrzowice, including two routes to European capitals,i.e. Budapest and Brussels. We hope that in the future Ryanair will expand its Katowice base with more aircraft, which will allow for further development of the offer of regular destinations and an increase in the number of passengers served.”

Ryanair commenced serving Katowice Airport in November 2007, when the airline operated its first flight from Pyrzowice to Dublin. On 29 October 2019, the carrier launched its base at Katowice Airport with two based Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Today the carrier has 8 based aircraft with 3 based scheduled aircraft and 5 aircraft serving charter flights.
