On the 22nd May 2025, Irelandia published “A Pathfinder for Irish Aviation”, a study of the Irish aviation eco-system which contains 5 key policy recommendations that can drive commercial aviation forward and boost the Irish economy.

The report was prepared on behalf of Irelandia by Eamonn Brennan and Joe Gill after consulting with 33 industry leaders including the CEOs and leaders of British Airways, DAA, Aer Lingus, Ryanair, ASL, Emerald Airlines, IATA, Airlines For America, Avolon, Atlantic Aviation, Heart Aerospace, Manna Drones, ADS and SMBC Aviation among others.

The five recommendations of the report are:

  • Adopt An “All-Island” Aviation Policy
  • Restructure Airport Planning And Noise Regulations
  • Quadruple The Output of Qualified Commercial Pilots
  • Strategically Expand MRO Capability On The Island
  • Enhance Irish Aircraft Leasing Competitiveness

Dr. Dec Ryan, founder of Irelandia, said “This is an important initiative designed to help the Irish Government to urgently adopt policies designed to advance Irish aviation and its role supporting FDI, Tourism and indigenous industry on the island of Ireland. Our authors will follow publication of “A Pathfinder for Irish Aviation” by presenting to interested stakeholders on the report’s contents and the future of Irish aviation. We intend to host a major conference in Ireland during September 2025 to review progress of the policy recommendations set out in this report and all aspects of investing in the commercial aviation industry”.
