In a Linkedin post Ireland West Airport CEO Joe Gilmore and Head of Aviation Business Development Donal Healy recently met with the team at Tourism Ireland’s headquarters in Frankfurt, as part of a strategic visit to enhance connectivity and tourism links between Germany and the West of Ireland.

During the visit, the Ireland West Airport team held positive and productive meetings with leading German tour operators, aimed at expanding inbound travel opportunities and increasing direct access from Germany to the West. With over 40% of all German visitors to Ireland choosing the West and Northwest regions, the potential for growth remains strong.

A major trade networking event, organised in partnership with Tourism Ireland will take place in July in the Cologne-Bonn region. The event will bring together over 25 trade and local authority representatives from the West of Ireland to connect with more than 50 German tour operators, showcasing the diverse and authentic experiences the region offers.

The airport’s twice-weekly Ryanair service from Cologne continues to thrive, bringing thousands of German tourists annually directly to the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way.
